“We always overestimate the change that will occur in the next two years and underestimate the change that will occur in the next ten. Don't let yourself be lulled into inaction.”

-Bill Gates

Action

The humanitarian crisis in Darfur has been going on since 2003. The crisis has now spread to Chad and the Central African Republic. It is time for the crisis to end and peace to return to Sudan. Millions of people have raised money, signed petitions, and called on national governments and international organizations such as the United Nations and the African Union to use their political and military resources to end this crisis. Momentum is slowly building for a change, but sustained pressure is necessary. Therefore, here are a few things that you can do.

Want to Learn More About Darfur?

If you want to learn more, fast, Eric Reeves, Honoree of the Boston Night to Save Darfur, has a wonderful website www.sudanreeves.org which explains why this humanitarian crisis has occurred, why it is so hard to stop, and what you can do to help facilitate change.

Write a letter or send an email to the President and to U.S. Representatives demanding that they work harder to support the people of Sudan working for peace in the south, and bring an end to the genocide in the west.

OR CALL THE WHITE HOUSE at 202-456-1111 and ask President Bush to use all diplomatic means necessary to secure international agreement for an immediate ceasefire to stop the killing and further escalation of violence in Darfur. You will speak to a communications coordinator who will take down your comments and then pass them on to the president's advisers. If you get a busy signal, please try again.
